Jim Rogers

Bridge Builders Award

Jim Rogers  is honored for his commitment to the environment and renewable energy programs in wind, solar, and policy development. As Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President of Duke Energy and with 22 years of experience in the electrical utility industry, Rogers is a leading figure of corporate responsibility for sustainable growth.

JamesWith plans to make Duke Energy a dominant renewable energy source in the United States by 2050, Jim Rogers is a leading figure in America’s transition to clean energy. Hailed as one of the electrical industry’s most vocal environmentalists, Rogers has worked relentlessly to bring sustainable growth front and center as a business imperative throughout his career.

As Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Duke Energy, one of the nation’s leading energy providers, Rogers is committed to producing and delivering increasingly clean energy. He brings 23 years of experience as former CEO of both PSI Energy and Cinergy, working to achieve sustainable growth as the company’s mission by setting a number of ambitious carbon reduction targets.

As an advocate for the stiff regulation of greenhouse gases, Rogers’ environmental leadership in the business world reaches far beyond his role at Duke Energy. He tirelessly lobbies for more restrictive carbon legislation through a carbon cap law that would greatly reduce the amount of carbon dioxide produced in the United States. With this vision, Duke Energy has earned a place on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for their modernized and diversified generating fleet technology, which will produce energy more efficiently, retire less-efficient plants, and greatly lower their carbon-footprint as a company.

During his early career, Rogers worked as a journalist for the Kentucky’s Lexington Herald- Leader for three years, until he received his JD in pursuit of his passion for policy reform. As an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Rogers advocated for the state’s consumers in gas, electric, and telephone rate cases. He was then appointed to Deputy General Counsel for litigation and enforcement for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and Executive Vice President of interstate pipeline for the Enron Gas Pipeline Group.

Jim Rogers has contributed immensely to building the bridge between business success and environmental  sustainability. Through his corporate leadership, our future in energy has a greener horizon.
